Switzerland - Andermatt

Andermatt is not only famous for its wonderful ski slopes, it is also a great destination for sledding.

Whether it’s your first time trying sledding or you’re a veteran, here you’ll find scenic slopes, convenient lifts, and plenty of snow to whizz around in.

In this article, we tell you about the best toboggan runs in Andermatt and some tips for enjoying this snow experience to the fullest.

How to get there

The toboggan runs are located within the Andermatt ski area.

Therefore, to reach them you need to purchase the ski pass as we explain in detail in THIS article.

After arriving in Andermatt you will need to take the ski lift to kick off an exciting day in the snow! 🛷

❄️ Sledding track Nätschen–Andermatt

The first slope we recommend you try is the one located right in Andermatt, the starting point of our day.

Here some general info about the slope.

  • Length: about 4.7 km

  • Average duration of the downhill run: about 20 minutes

  • Start: Nätschen (reachable by Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn or gondola)

  • Finish: directly in Andermatt village

  • Features: wide slope with gentle curves and spectacular scenery.

In general this is an easy slope where only in the last section does it have a major, but short, incline. Nothing that cannot be tackled!

❄️Sledding track Milez-Dieni

After much laughter and a few falls, we move to the Milez-Dieni toboggan run.

Moving from slope to slope is done by the train we told you about in the article about Andermatt (if you missed it you can find it HERE).

Again, we leave you with some general info about the slope.

  • Length: 4.0 km

  • Average duration of the descent: about 20 minutes

  • Difficulty level: Easy

In our opinion, although, this is also categorized as an easy slope, it has much steeper sections than the one in Andermatt.

Andermatt Pista

If you like speed you will undoubtedly appreciate this track!

More adrenaline and more speed.

The advice we feel to give you is to proceed with caution if you are not yet an experienced sledder. Definitely, we do not recommend it for less experienced children.

🌌 Night Sledding

For timing reasons we did not have the opportunity to try this experience, but we would like to point out that on these slopes, during certain times of the year the slopes are also open at night.Specifically just the Milez-Dieni slope offers the possibility of night sledding during the Snownight Sedrun events.

On these occasions, the slope is illuminated, allowing you to enjoy the descent under the stars.
