Andermatt: Guide to Ski Lifts and Slopes
Switzerland - Andermatt
Located in the heart of the Swiss Alps, Andermatt is one of the most attractive and growing ski destinations in recent years.
Connected to Sedrun and Disentis, it offers as many as 180 km of perfectly groomed slopes, modern infrastructure and breathtaking views.
In this article we take you on a tour of Andermatt‘s ski facilities: from the most popular slopes to tips on ski passes, rentals and the best times to ski.
Whether you are an experienced skier or a beginner looking for excitement in the snow, Andermatt has something to offer you.
How to get there
The Andermatt ski resort is about 2.30 hours from Milan.
We give you some useful information to reach your destination without any problems.
To get there you need to cross the highway, so remember to buy the Vignette in advance. HERE is the link to buy the electronic version from the comfort of your home.
Once you reach your destination, follow the directions of the attendants present who will direct you to the most free parking space.
General info
A ski pass must be purchased to access the ski area.
The ticket is valid for: Andermatt+Sedrun+Disentis
and you can buy it directly from the official website, which we point you to at THIS link.
There are various types of tickets, including a sled-only ticket.
> When purchasing the ski pass online, remember that on the day you wish to use it, you must print a hard copy. You can do this conveniently at one of the many totems located near the entrances to the lifts.
🎿 Main Slopes and Difficulty
The Andermatt+Sedrun+Disentis ski area offers a wide range of slopes suitable for all levels of skiers.
Here you will find slopes from blue to black. The slopes are divided by: skiing, snowboarding and even sledding!
We tried the latter. We tell you about our sledding experience HERE.
🗺️ Map of Connections with Sedrun and Disentis
The area is well connected by modern lifts and the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn railway, which facilitates travel between Andermatt, Sedrun, and Disentis.
We recommend that you check which slopes are open before planning your day in the snow.
Travel between lifts, as we anticipated, is easy thanks to the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn trains. Access to the train is included in your ski pass (we still recommend you check this when you buy it).
You will recognize these trains from afar by their unmistakable red color, which stands out among the immensity of the white snow. Moving from one location to another also becomes part of the journey: the carriages have large panoramic windows, perfect for admiring the alpine landscape along the way.
This, in our opinion, is also an experience to be had!
❄️When to go
The best time to go is obviously the winter season. We recommend that you check the official website for lift opening days and times.
Another key tip is to check the weather and avalanche risk.
